Sam Hunt Once Made 7 Attempts to Win His Wife Back Now Hannah Lee Fowler Is Divorcing Him

Publish date: 2024-06-04

Singer-songwriter Sam Hunt knows firsthand that relationships can be complicated, mainly because he had to win his wife back seven times before she filed for divorce.

Even though country music star Sam Hunt and his wife, Hannah Lee Fowler, dated for years before tying the knot, they couldn't make their marriage last and are now divorcing.

The breakup news surprised most of his fans. However, some were sure their relationship wouldn't last because things had been far from perfect over the years.

SAM HUNT'S WIFE FILES FOR DIVORCE

Different sources obtained the documents Fowler filed in a Tennessee court on February 18, 2022, requesting the divorce from Hunt.

She accused her husband of almost five years of engaging in "inappropriate marital conduct" and "adultery," adding that she had no hopes of reconciliation. The documents also revealed she is pregnant and due in May.

Fowler requested alimony, child support, and primary custody of the baby. She also wants her and Hunt to keep their "respective separate property."

The details about Sam Hunt's alleged adultery have not been revealed, and neither Fowler nor Hunt has publicly addressed their separation.

Before the divorce documents went public, nobody knew Fowler was pregnant. However, Hunt confessed in July 2021 that he and his wife were trying to have children.

He admitted they talked about it before but began to really consider it in mid-2021. Three years earlier, Hunt pointed out he was experiencing baby fever. The country music star confessed:

"My brother had a baby about a year ago. I've been watching him grow up through pictures mostly. That has escalated my baby fever a little bit."

Since Hunt grew up with two brothers, he always wanted three children. Unfortunately, his and Fowler's current situation suggests she will bear only one of his kids.

"I went out [to Hawaii] about seven times in about three months, trying to talk to her about coming back."

HUNT AND FOWLER'S ROLLERCOASTER RELATIONSHIP

Sam Hunt and Hannah Lee Fowler kept most details of their relationship and her life away from the spotlight. She grew up in Montevallo, a small town in Alabama that inspired the name of Hunt's debut album, "Montevallo," released in October 2014.

Hunt confessed he never visited or lived in Montevallo, but he "met a girl" shortly before leaving Nashville. Their relationship and things they did together inspired most of the songwriting on the album, and that "girl" was Fowler.

Fowler is a registered nurse who graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2007. That is the same college Hunt played football for between 2005 and 2007 before trying out for the NFL in 2008.

As a nurse, Fowler has been involved in humanitarian work over the years. Hunt once admitted that while he pursued his music dreams in Nashville, Fowler provided medical care to Hondurans during the 2009 coup d'état.

During the 2014 elections in Iraq, Fowler worked in Syrian refugee camps, helping deliver Kurd babies. She also spent time in Israel and got involved in a feeding program.

Fowler's dad is the pastor of the Spring Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where she and her six younger siblings used to attend during their childhood.

Sam and Hannah started dating on and off circa 2008, years before he made a name for himself in the country music business.

He admitted that knowing each other before achieving success helped keep him from getting caught up in fame. Fowler didn't put him on a pedestal, either – a trait that "endeared" him to Fowler.

Hunt apologized to Fowler for writing so much about her and naming his debut album after her hometown.

Hunt and Fowler eventually parted ways. They turned the relationship switch to the permanent "on" position in 2016, but it wasn't easy. He explained:

"I think last summer I went out [to Hawaii] about seven times in about three months, trying to talk to her about coming back. And the seventh trip, I convinced her."

Whatever Hunt did, it went great because his representative announced in January 2017 that he and Fowler were engaged. He popped the question during a trip to Israel by the Sea of Galilee.

The singer admitted his proposal almost went south because they got in a small fight before he asked her to marry him. The altercation made him feel "agitated," but it led to the perfect opportunity to propose.

SAM HUNT'S WEDDING

In April 2017, Fowler and Hunt tied the knot in a private ceremony in Georgia. As expected, they didn't reveal any significant detail about it. However, he confessed his priority was to make his wife happy, and she was.

Hunt added that his family attended the event, and he enjoyed spending time with some of the people he had not seen in a while.

The "Drinkin' Too Much" singer admitted he couldn't plan some of the emotions he felt that day, including how special it was to see Fowler's young brother escort his grandmother down the aisle.

Hunt and Fowler made their red-carpet debut as a married couple at the Billboard Music Awards only one month after tying the knot. He said being married felt "great," and the wedding band made him feel "a bit taller."

HUNT AND FOWLER'S FOURTH (AND LAST) WEDDING ANNIVERSARY

Hunt shared a two-image slideshow on social media. The first pic was a throwback selfie showing Fowler kissing him inside a vehicle, and the second was a black-and-white photo of the couple smiling backstage.

Fowler filed for divorce only two months before celebrating their fifth wedding anniversary. Judging by the lyrics of some of Hunt's songs, she was never a fan of attracting too much attention.

In "Drinkin' Too Much," Hunt apologized to Fowler for writing so much about her and naming his debut album after her hometown.

"I know you want your privacy," he wrote before asking her to let him pay her student loans with the songs she "gave" him. The details of their separation are still unclear.
