Ruben Studdard Biography

Christopher was born as Christopher Theodore Ruben Studdard on in Frankfurt, West Germany, as the son of Emily and Kevin. His father is a secondary teacher and entrepreneur whereas his mother is an elementary teacher. He is the youngest children of his family and was brought up in Birmingham, Alabama. 

When Christopher was three years old, he began singing in the choir of a local Baptist Church together with his mother. He was inspired by his mother to sing and she often made him participate in plays, choir competitions, and musicals. 

Christopher joined Huffman High School, where he was a part of its football team. After completion of his high school, he enrolled at Alabama A & M University on a sports scholarship. However, he changed his major to music studies and graduated in .

At the beginning of his singing career, Christopher joined a local jazz band called . He frequently recorded demos for several music production houses, but never released an album. Eventually, he heard of American Idol from his friend and went to Nashville to audition for this show.
