In the sophomore year, his performance further improved as he tallied 14 pass breakups, 48 tackles, and 1 interception in 12 games.
For his amazing performance, he was named to the third-team All-ACC team. In his junior year, Samuel Jr. played in 8 games and recorded 6 pass breakups, 31 tackles, 3 interceptions, and two fumble recoveries. He was named to the first-team All-ACC team for his performance.
After collecting such good stats, he declared himself for the 2021 NFL Draft. When the draft happened, he was selected by the Los Angeles Chargers as the 47th overall pick in the second round.
