Lava Monsters Abound in New Teaser for Disney's 'Moana'
The finer details behind Disney’s upcoming animated film Moana are still relatively unknown. The previous trailers have focused on showing us the cuteness of characters like the title character as a baby and a personified form of the Pacific Ocean. But in a new teaser released over the weekend during the Olympics, it looks like the adventure embarked on by Moana and her demigod pal Maui looks colossally epic. How epic? 100-foot-tall lava monsters epic.
Moana stars Dwayne Johnson as the demigod in question, who has to prove his worth again by helping a teenage girl, a fact that he seems more than reluctant to admit in the new teaser. But after some good old-fashioned Disney optimism, pluck and determination, the two take to the seas, despite his warning of an “ocean of troubles” that lie ahead of them.
From what we see in the new clips, these troubles are highlighted by the aforementioned giant lava monster in addition to a tribe of tiny, mask-wearing creatures. What else awaits them on this quest is anyone’s guess, but rest assured it will give you a case of the warm and fuzzier.
Moana hits theaters on November 23.
