OMG that character always creeped me out when I was a kid.

by Anonymousreply 3June 18, 2021 2:24 AM

Why are a these people dying at 66, 67...?

by Anonymousreply 4June 18, 2021 2:26 AM

Me too r3. Haven’t thought about him in a long time! Nightmares tonight!

Also, RIP.

by Anonymousreply 6June 18, 2021 2:28 AM

So funny in "Eating Raoul" as the apple-chewing, sarcastic adult bookstore clerk.

by Anonymousreply 7June 18, 2021 2:31 AM

He co-wrote Elvira’s first movie and appeared often on her old Movie Macabre series as perverted crank caller Breather.

[quote] He co-wrote Elvira’s first movie

Which I will always remember for being in a nearly empty theater with a friend, and SCREAM laughting, almost peeing our pants, at her line "Welcome to my big opening!"

by Anonymousreply 9June 18, 2021 2:36 AM

He never got as big as he deserved to be (his awful skin did not help) -- but he was one of the very nicest guys I ever met.on more than one occasion. Unlike that bitch Edie McClurg, he loved hearing people liked his work. He's also great in "Echo Park", one of my favorite Indies with Susan Day, a very sweet Tom Hulce and a very hot Michael Bowen.

by Anonymousreply 12June 18, 2021 4:04 AM

He was one half of the gay couple in Seinfeld (“Who will not wear the ribbon?”) He wrote/co-wrote all of Elvira’s shows, books and movies.

He died in April. Why the delay in reporting it? And Pee Wee has said nothing so far... They WERE lovers.

Paul says he’s absolutely devastated and is trying to find the right words to write. He had no idea and it sounds like many of the others didn’t know either which begs the question - HOW THE FUCK DIDN’T THEY KNOW?!! The Groundlings is a community. Cassandra JUST released a statement. Too weird. I had also read that it wasn’t recent from someone in the know before it was officially reported. Edie McClurg has reported dementia and needs a person in charge of all her affairs yet she’s somehow still doing voice over work.

Remember when John had the cops called on him when he threatened to shoot his neighbor’s dog? lol

I wonder if this is going to be another one of those cases where we never find out cause of death.

by Anonymousreply 21June 18, 2021 8:17 PM

How did Tawny Kitean die?

by Anonymousreply 22June 18, 2021 8:19 PM

Elvira's statement:

Lost someone that meant the world to me and was such a huge part of “Elvira” and my life that it’s impossible to express how sad I feel. John Paragon, my writing partner of 27 years…my friend, my brother, my soul-mate. I will miss you and love you forever, Johnny #RIPJohnParagon

The police reported that nothing at the scene indicated alcohol or drugs as a factor in Kitaen's death. The Orange County coroner's office made the certificate as "residential death", without any other description.

by Anonymousreply 25June 18, 2021 8:26 PM

[quote] According to the Riverside County Coroner, Paragon died on April 3 from “cardiovascular disease with other significant conditions of chronic alcohol abuse.”

So count this as another Covid death

Sad to hear, but if he's been dead for months and no one noticed until now, obviously few people cared about him.

by Anonymousreply 30June 18, 2021 11:16 PM

Wiki says he died of a heart attack and that it wasn’t made public until June.

by Anonymousreply 32June 18, 2021 11:57 PM

Or he was starting to stink, r30.

Paul Reubens just paid tribute.

I guess we’ll find out date of death on the Social Security Death Index?

by Anonymousreply 38June 19, 2021 12:35 AM

Never mind, April 3rd. He was living in Palm Springs? That’s not so awful.

by Anonymousreply 39June 19, 2021 12:35 AM

[quote]He was living in Palm Springs? That’s not so awful.

The awful part is he'll miss the dedication of the Marilyn statue this Sunday.

by Anonymousreply 40June 19, 2021 1:30 AM

Trust me, people overplay Pitt's "bad skin". It was chiffon velvet compared to Paragon's. But, again, he was a very sweet and very talented man.

by Anonymousreply 41June 19, 2021 2:36 AM

Mekka-lekka-hi mekka-drunky-ho!

[quote]According to the Riverside County Coroner, Paragon died on April 3 from “cardiovascular disease with other significant conditions of chronic alcohol abuse.”

He actually looks like Ed Wood Jr. in this picture, in Ed's final stage of alcoholism.

[quote] “I am sooo sad. This is terrible news,” wrote former “Saturday Night Live” star Julia Sweeney. “I didn’t know him well, but I admired him greatly & he was deeply loved by so many whom I know well. So many laughs. Sad for The Groundlings. Sad for comedy. Very sad day. RIP John Paragon.”

Very sad, but who was hiring any of these very talented character actors and comedians?

We don't have outlets anywhere for quirky comedians these days - instead we have the likes of Bowen Yang, who's about as funny as a fart in an elevator, and whose sole gift appears to be expressing disdain, disinterest or scorn.

by Anonymousreply 44June 19, 2021 2:18 PM

Agree with R43. P.S. is like hell but hotter and for an older clientele.

by Anonymousreply 45June 19, 2021 2:30 PM

By all reports he was well loved by those who knew and had worked with him in the entertainment world.

by Anonymousreply 46June 19, 2021 2:35 PM

Pee Wee loved Jambi's Juice.

by Anonymousreply 47June 19, 2021 2:39 PM

Has S. Epatha Merkerson released a statement?

by Anonymousreply 48June 19, 2021 2:50 PM

Wikipedia reports "chronic alcoholic abuse" contributing to death at 66.

by Anonymousreply 49June 19, 2021 2:58 PM

So beloved yet his death went unnoticed for 2 months. I suspect his alcoholism grew really bad and everyone just moved on. I bet there's a lot of guilt right now.

by Anonymousreply 50June 19, 2021 4:41 PM

Now you know why Dick Van Dyke quit drinking while the quitting was good.

by Anonymousreply 51June 19, 2021 6:37 PM

I find it interesting that Paul Reubens said nothing in his comment about being sad about Paragon's death or that he would be missed. But then, from the things I've read about Paul Reubens over the years I gather that in private he has no real friends and uses everyone he comes into contact with and then drops them as soon as they're no longer of any benefit to him. I don't know if that changed after his theater pump & dump escandalo or not. I hope it did.

by Anonymousreply 52June 19, 2021 6:40 PM

R52 It's Hollywood, baby. Everyone is a user.

by Anonymousreply 53June 19, 2021 6:57 PM

Yet your drinking and smoking is somehow socially acceptable?

by Anonymousreply 54June 19, 2021 7:54 PM

I know several people who I like very much, but don't necessarily talk to on a regular basis. They're living different lives, different places, etc., It's unfortunate, but it's not all that odd to not notice someone has died.

And R50, with alcoholism, it isn't necessarily other people moving on, it's very common for alcoholics to sort of push other people away and keep them out of their lives. It's not always about them not wanting to see other people, but about wanting to be left alone to drink. It's a choice that many users make.

by Anonymousreply 55June 19, 2021 8:05 PM

But that’s why weed is good for you. It’s keeping Olivia Newton John alive.

by Anonymousreply 56June 19, 2021 8:06 PM

Are you sure?

Have you seen her in the last two months?

by Anonymousreply 57June 19, 2021 8:08 PM

She outlived Helen Reddy, let’s put it that way.

by Anonymousreply 58June 19, 2021 8:10 PM

He had a green ass, but he couldn’t live forever.

After Pee-wee and Elvira, Paragon pursued a handful of other parts on-screen and off. But things were hardly the same after his creative heyday. He eventually moved from LA to Palm Springs, making it apparent that "he just ... didn't want anything to do with anybody here," Peterson said, adding that longtime colleagues and friends were worried when they weren't able to reach him.

Was he rotting for two months before anyone found him?

by Anonymousreply 68June 23, 2021 9:20 PM

I was wondering that too. How tragic. I wonder what finally did him in mentally. To just up and leave and go some place to drink yourself to death.

by Anonymousreply 69June 23, 2021 10:27 PM

John had an amazing ass but it couldn’t live forever.

by Anonymousreply 70June 23, 2021 10:28 PM

Like Jan Hooks after the cancer diagnosis. Holed up on a farm, took liquor and cigarette deliveries, and just watched old movies until the time came.

by Anonymousreply 71June 23, 2021 10:31 PM

That’s how I’d want to go too.

Not a burden to anyone and just leave me alone.

by Anonymousreply 72June 23, 2021 10:40 PM

I would understand if he has cancer or something but wouldn’t they mention that? I guess depression. Sad.

by Anonymousreply 73June 24, 2021 7:59 AM

Depression is an evil beast.
