Ariana Grande's Mom Joan Introduced Her 'SNL' Performance
Following the release of her new album Eternal Sunshine, Ariana Grande hit the Studio 8H stage at Saturday Night Live, where she was joined by a very special guest: her mom, Joan Grande.
Ahead of Ariana's performance of "Imperfect for You," Joan adorably introduced her daughter while dressed to impress in a long-sleeved black gown with a peplum waist and a red floral-embellished statement collar. Grande blew a kiss to her mom before delving into her second performance of the evening on a set that was made to look like a meadow at sunset.
For the occasion, she wore a strapless nude gown with cutouts at the ribcage and long tulle skirt. Her blonde hair was worn in a half up, half down style, while her soft glam consisted of a glossy lip and a toned-down version of her signature cat eye. Meanwhile, for her first song, "We Can't Be Friends (Wait for Your Love)," Grande sang the track while wearing a black dress with a fuzzy brown coat that was slightly slung off her shoulders and a pair of matching knee-high boots.
In addition to her mom's iconic SNL appearance, Grande has been including other family members in the making of her Eternal Sunshine album. Ari's 98-year-old grandmother Marjorie, whom she affectionately refers to as "Nonna," is credited with the opening interlude to her song "Ordinary Things," while her brother Frankie got an early sneak peek at the recording.
Initially, Grande wasn't planning on coming out with new music until at least 2025. “I actually was really opposed to coming out with music until post-Wicked, either both parts or just one part. I wasn’t sure how I would feel,” she said during a recent interview on the Zach Sang Show, but the music, she says, just "started pouring out," making her reconsider her original plan.
“Maybe it should come out if it’s coming out of me this way," she added.
