David Taylor started coaching in 1992 after starting to play tennis at the age of eight.

In 1995, David started working as a WTA Tour coach out of the US’ Hopman Tennis Academy.

Taylor has served as the Australian Fed Cup team’s captain for seven games since being named to the position in 2006.

Additionally, he was appointed as the women’s tennis coach for the Australian Institute of Sport in 2007, working with Casey Dellacqua, Jessica Moore, and presently Stosur.

Taylor has worked with a number of top WTA athletes, including Martina Hingis and Ana Ivanovic, both of whom were previous world No. 1s.

But he is perhaps most known for his extended associations with Australian top-10 athletes Sam Stosur and Alicia Molik, who he assisted in 2011 in winning the US Open.

He also coached another Australian, Ajla Tomljanovic, between stints with Stosur.

More recently, he worked with international players Naomi Osaka, Jelena Ostapenko, Madison Keys, and Elise Mertens.
